ART

PAMELA YBANEZ

Pamela Ybañez is an Oakland based artist who works in photography, curation and social engagement projects. Her art deals with personal and social investigations as a way to discuss existing societal conditions around inequality and identity.

KARLA KORAZON

Karla Korazon is a local artist creating mixed media art pieces.

Malaya tuyay

Malaya Tuyay is from small town Carpinteria, but now works and lives in the Bay Area. She is still figuring out how to feel solid in the intersections of her queer mixed Pilipinx-American identity, and channels the legacies of print and textile mediums to open up about her relationship with mourning her mother. She wants to use her practice to offer affirmation to others within the community who haven’t been given space to talk about the pain they hold. By doing this, she aims to create work that remembers and celebrates people who have been lost in translation or forced to be forgotten; creating a tangible documentation of their existence and brilliance.

kristian kabuay

Kristian Kabuay was born in the Philippines and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He spent his college years in the Philippines where he honed his knowledge about the native ancient writing system, Baybayin. Kristian is a self-taught artist influenced by calligraphy, graffiti, abstract art, indigenous culture, technology and Asian writing systems.

Sami see

Samantha Schilf, who paints under the name “Sami See”, is a second generation, bi-racial, Filipinx-American who began creating murals and aerosol art across the Bay Area in 2011.

Mariel paat

Mariel Paat is a Filipina artist and educator rooted in San Francisco. Her oil paintings explore the relationship between women and nature by using women in her life, including herself, as the subjects. Each painting stems from her personal memories which become distorted as she delves into the definition of beauty and the place of Filipinas in the past and present.

MARIA FATIMA URBI

Maria is a freelance illustrator and exhibiting artist based in Oakland CA. She received her BFA in illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco CA. She has exhibited in galleries such as 111 Minna, Wonderland SF, Warehouse 416, Cartoon Museum, Rock Paper Scissors to name a few, as well as an artist exhibitor for the Oakland Art Murmur, San Francisco Art Fair, and East Bay Open Studios.
