In collaboration with new Filipino business owners, Mirage Medicinal, a new mural incorporating Philippine indigenous traditions will be unveiled at 985 Folsom. Created by artists Kristian Kabuay and SamiSee with the assistance of Josie Merer, Teresa Benson, and Nate Bonoan, the mural depicts the Tagalog word ‘lumiyab’ in Baybayin (the native ancient writing system) and makes reference to batok (tattoo) patterns and ancestral healing.
